- We believe that the Bible is the Word of God.
God uniquely revealed and inspired the Bible which consists of the 66 books commonly called the Old and New Testaments, so that it alone is God’s Word written, hence the Holy Scriptures are the only inerrant authority for what we believe about God’s moral law, salvation from sin and how we should live. - We believe in one living God, who eternally exists in three Persons.
God is at the same time God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is both unconditionally loving toward all persons and unalterably just in His judgment of all persons. - We believe that God has a special plan for all persons.
God created man as male and female in His image. God’s desire is to have a personal relationship with all. However, the original couple sinned by disobeying God thus falling from God’s intended innocence and incurring the penalty of physical and spiritual death. They passed their fallen nature on to their offspring who, as soon as they are capable of moral action, choose to disobey God and fall under the same penalty. Man cannot undo a sin or his sinful nature and therefore cannot save himself. - We believe that Jesus’ death in our place is all that can reconcile us to God.
His atoning sacrifice provided redemption from the power of sin, forgiveness for our guilt, and reconciliation to Himself and others. We become acceptable to God, or justified, not by works, but by God’s grace alone, through faith in Christ alone. Faith in Jesus results in repentance which is a turning from sin. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross to provide for our redemption, bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and His return to earth in power and glory. - We believe that the Holy Spirit is active in our world today.
The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and draws sinners to repentance, belief in the Gospel and trust in the risen Christ of whom it speaks. The Holy Spirit then indwells those who believe, seals them for the day of salvation, assures them of salvation, causes them to become like Christ, gives them gifts for servant ministries, and empowers them to meet the needs of the lost, the poor, and the oppressed. - We believe that the church is the Body and Bride of Christ.
It is composed of all born again believers. In addition, every believer is expected to take part in worship and service through a local church. - We believe that there is an existence after we die.
The believer will be physically resurrected into the eternal presence of God, while all others rejecting the finished work of Christ will endure conscious and eternal torment with Satan and His angels in a literal and eternal hell. - We believe the purpose of the church is to glorify God.
We do this by carrying out the five functions that God has given to His church which are: 1) To worship God; 2) To evangelize those who are not yet Christians by sharing the gospel in word and deed; 3) To disciple those who are already Christians, helping them to grow to be more like Christ; 4) To minister to the needs of one another, our community and the world; and 5) To fellowship together as we carry out the functions of the church. - We believe that Jesus commanded the church to observe two ordinances – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Baptism by full immersion, as commanded by Jesus, is symbolic of His death, burial and resurrection by which He made atonement for our sins. The Lord’s Supper is observed by the church in worship through eating bread and drinking juice. The bread is a symbolic reminder of the body of Jesus which was crucified on a Roman cross and the cup is a symbolic reminder of the blood which flowed from His wounds. - We believe the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8) is God’s assignment for every believer in every age.
The purpose of missions is simply to extend the work of the church in its five functions to the “uttermost parts of the earth.”
